Empathy or Synesthesia?

Many times, whenever I see pictures of or hear about another person's pain, whether it's physical or emotional, I too will wince in pain. It might not be the same physical painful sensation that they're feeling, but I feel this sensation of pain in my soul. I don't know how else to describe it, it's hard to explain.

Is this empathy? Or a form of it? Is this some form of synesthesia?
